Customers rave about the explosion of flavors, with testimonies like that of Melody W., who described the atmosphere as “soft lighting and minimalist decor that whispers modern elegance” alongside unforgettable desserts like the passion fruit crème brûlée.
The restaurant prides itself on an extensive menu offering many vegetarian options, making it a delightful spot for everyone. And if you're a fan of creative fusion, you’ll be impressed by their inventive evening specials that take inspiration from Peruvian and Asian cuisines, as noted by satisfied patrons. “ A nice blend of French and California. The ambience is soft lighting and minimalist decor that whispers modern elegance. The food was authentic. The dessert we got was passion fruit crème brûlée, it was also really great. ”
“ If you're looking for gorgeous caviar service, extensive cocktail menu and quality food, this is a great splurge. I love how they have all the expected French dishes like Coq au Vin, duck breast, even lapin confit AND a dessert cheese selection the evening specials were super creative with some Peruvian and Asian fusion touches (bravo chef). My only caution is that we ordered the filet mignon medium rare, and it came out medium. It's one of those things where I feel too bad to send it back because it's a filet, so I ate it without complaint because the fries made me happy enough They're only open W thru Sun, and for a rainy Wednesday night, the dining room was full, so make reservations. ”
“ We ordered the 4 meal tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was phenomenal. It's just an explosion of flavors in my mouth!! The service was great. Alan was assigned to our table and he explained to us every dish that we get. We can't ask for more in terms of ambiance. I felt I was back in Paris. We had an unforgettable great anniversary experience in Marche Moderne. We'll definitely come back especially for their seasonal tasting menu. Mercí beau coup. ”
“ I've been here twice now, lucky me! The food is of very good quality and wonderful to taste. The servers are helpful and knowledgeable. Recommend the Hamachi and that Mango Jalapeno sorbet plus short ribs (veal cheeks if they have it), Amelia Salad is so crisp and refreshing. Bone marrow octopus is also really good. Duck is okay in my opinion, not my favorite but that's because I prefer Asian style duck. Don't get the steak. It's okay but there are other places to get the steak. Apple tarte is perfectly light to finish the meal. Highly recommend! ”
“ Wrote a review about a year ago, let me update. Food: Still outstanding Service: Still outstanding Consistency in the above: Outstanding If you have never been here do yourself a favor and make a reservation. It won't be your cheapest meal out but it will be one that is well worth it. ”
“ Wonderful dining experience at this contemporary French spot in a Newport Beach strip mall. It's not new but the chef and his team really have made it a place where you can snack on classic French items or opt for some more modern interpretations. The menu is ample for all types of eaters and their wine list is spectacular. The staff is also super attentive. My husband and I shared a bunch of appetizers. He had the duck for his main which was spot on. The fish special sounded good but it was the only miss of the evening. It was overcooked which was disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. Still... if you're looking for a nice spot with a good vibe, and really lovely food and service, Marche ticks most boxes. ”
“ Came here for a birthday celebration/farewell dinner, and it met our expectations in nearly every way. I only wish I had had more presence of mind to ask for a better table as we were being seated, since we were the table closest to the entrance, next to the bar, and near where servers came in and out of the kitchen. Vantage point may have been good, but location maybe on the lowest end of the scale. This place looked like it got a lot of regulars, so maybe they were keeping all those tables on reserve. Nonetheless, we were the first in at 5 pm and it didn't fill until after six, so it would have been nice to be seated somewhere a little more secluded. Fortunately, it only gets better from here. I started off with an Aperol Spritz, generously poured in a large wine glass with ice. My daughter ordered a Yuzu lemonade-they seemed to forget it and when I asked for it they promptly brought it to us. Other than that, we stuck to Evian, their still bottled water, or you can get Pellegrino if you want fizzy. The bread and sweet onion butter was delicious and a great way to get things started. My meal began with the Salade Amelia, delicious all around with great textures to offset the soft lettuces and feta cheese-pumpkin seeds and celery were the perfect foil for the soft feta, avocado, and greens. Served perfectly round out of a ring mold, this was a delight in every bite. The melon and prosciutto with a port/red wine sorbet held perfectly shaped melon balls and a delicately shaped nest of prosciutto slices. The caramelized onion tartlet was served with a cup of radicchio filled with a lemon goat cheese quenelle exploding with creamy lemon goodness. The Lobster Flambe I expected to come out perhaps with a server to do the flambeeing, but alas, I was let down here as it had probably been done in the kitchen. Nonetheless a plate worth finishing. John Dory from New Zealand also exceptional. I had cold smoked and roasted duck breast-the flavors on the plate were perfectly combined, a delicious amaretto jus and a marcona almond salted praline added flavor and texture. The pork paillard, almost like a schnitzel but maybe not as thin, was the least praiseworthy of all the dishes but still very tasty. One thing that did surprise me was the protocol after finishing dinner. I would expect (and hope the owners read this), that all dishes should be removed from the table only when everyone is finished. At our table the bussers, or whatever you might call them, were ready to swoop in and remove the plates within just a few minutes of finishing, and they cleared parts of the table while others were still finishing. No, no! You would never see this happen in France, anywhere. This is a problem across America, and at this level of dining you would expect this would not happen. All our desserts were nothing but excellent. The peach tart had beautifully caramelized, moist peaches, airy frangipane, and delicious crust with a wonderful vanilla ice cream quenelle. The molten lava cake was warm and made with deep, dark chocolate. The Creme Brulee with chambord marinated raspberries was cream and smooth with a crackly glass top, reflecting it was just burned before serving. Maybe not as deeply thick and creamy as I like it, but well done nonetheless. All in all, Marche Moderne delivered with spectacular food, gracious and friendly service, and a nice ambience. The portions were just right and allowed you to enjoy several courses. A few tiny details were overlooked but nothing that most people would take offense at, and I would go back without hesitation. Next time I know to make a request for a booth or table away from the bar, ideally with a view to the kitchen. ”
